Our Journey
A Decade of Impact
From a small group of dedicated volunteers to a global organization, here is how POM Foundation grew.
POM Foundation Founded
Three friends with a shared dream founded POM Foundation with $5,000 in seed funding and a mission to help 100 children access education.
First Learning Center Opens
We opened our first community learning center in rural Ghana, serving 80 children. We also received our 501(c)(3) certification.
Health Programs Launch
Recognizing that education alone is not enough, we launched our health division, providing nutrition and basic healthcare to 500 families.
Women in Tech Scholarship
We launched our flagship scholarship program for young women in STEM, partnering with 12 universities across Africa and Southeast Asia.
Charity Navigator 4-Star Rating
POM Foundation received Charity Navigator's highest 4-star rating for financial health, accountability, and transparency for the first time.
50,000 Children Milestone
We celebrated an incredible milestone — 50,000 children reached across 23 countries through our education, health, and community programs.
10 Years — Next Chapter
Celebrating our 10th anniversary and launching our boldest goal yet: reaching 150,000 children by 2028 through expanded partnerships.
Our Leadership
Meet Our Founder & President — Alan Wen
Alan Wen is the Founder and President of the Peace of Mind Foundation, a charitable organization dedicated to expanding access to education, health resources, and community support for underserved children and families.
After building a successful career in both technology and financial services, Alan chose to devote a significant part of his life and resources to philanthropy. He believes that true wealth is measured not only by financial success, but by the number of lives positively changed. The Foundation was established from this conviction — that opportunity should not be determined by where a child is born.
Alan holds a bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the University of Science and Technology of China and a master's degree in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York. He previously worked in leading technology companies including Yahoo, Microsoft, and Oracle, where he developed a deep understanding of systems, efficiency, and long-term planning — principles he now applies to charitable work.
As both a philanthropist and a long-term donor, Alan personally supports many of the Foundation's programs and actively participates in project planning and oversight. He regularly visits project communities, meets with educators and families, and ensures that donations are used transparently and effectively. His goal is not only to provide short-term assistance, but to help build sustainable pathways for education and self-reliance.
Alan believes that charity should be responsible, measurable, and enduring. Under his leadership, Peace of Mind Foundation focuses on practical impact — helping children stay in school, supporting teachers, improving basic living conditions, and empowering communities to develop independently.
"For Alan, philanthropy is not a side project.
It is a lifelong commitment."
